Tampereen Pyrintö was founded in 1896 and it offers organized sports activities in 8 different sports; basketball, track & field, orienteering, cross-country skiing, cheerleading, weight lifting, ski jumping and speed skating.

Men's basketball team has played 53 seasons on the highest level Korisliiga. Team has won 3 national championships in 2010, 2011 and 2014. In addition to championships, Pyrintö has 5 silver medals, 1 bronze medal and 2 national cup championships.

Current head coach of the team is Miikka Sopanen.
